Over the weekend, O’Hare Airport recorded 9.9 inches of snow and at least 11 inches of snow at Midway. It was the biggest snowstorm in the Chicago area in over five years.

The snow was wet and heavy, which made it difficult to keep pace on the sidewalks and driveways. Snowplows crossed the main streets, but hours later were covered again.

WATCH: Chunks of ice float in Lake Michigan
Lake Michigan was a sight to see during this weekend’s snowstorm.
Some people came down to film the huge chunks of ice floating on the water.
Tips if you must travel:
Residents on the north side build a 15-foot snowman
Some people on the north side of town made good use of the snow and built this giant snowman.
An ABC7 photographer said he is around 15 feet tall with children standing in front of him for perspective.
