Country singer Morgan Wallen has apologized after a video showed him using the N-word.

“I am embarrassed and sorry,” Wallen, 27, said in a statement shared with Fox News.

“I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There is no excuse for using that kind of language, ever. I sincerely apologize for using that word. I promise. to do better, “he continued.

Wallen’s remorse comes after TMZ released a video of the “Wasted On You” singer coming home on Sunday night with a group of friends. The clip shows Wallen walking down his driveway as he refers to one of his friends as the N word and uses other profanities.

The country star and her pals reportedly made it to Nashville before returning home around midnight. TMZ reports that the group was filmed by a neighbor who woke up to the sound of their conversation, as well as horns.

This is not the first time the artist has been forced to apologize after being the subject of leaked images. In fall 2020, the 27-year-old was stranded from a scheduled performance on “Saturday Night Live” after a video of Wallen surfaced at a crowded party without a mask amid the coronavirus pandemic .

He called the show’s decision to remove him from the performance “difficult” but “necessary”.

“I respect the show’s decision because I know I’m putting them at risk,” Wallen continued. “I make this my own. I would like to apologize to ‘SNL’, to my fans, to my team for giving me these opportunities and I let them go.”

He was, however, invited to return two months later to perform in the show.

And in May 2020, the “Whiskey Glasses” crooner was arrested after being kicked out of Kid Rock bar in downtown Nashville.

According to The Tennessean, after Wallen was kicked out of the bar, he began to fight verbally with passers-by on the streets, whom officers were watching. After apparently refusing to leave with his friends when the police gave them the opportunity, they determined that Wallen was “a danger to himself and the public” and took him into custody.

“Hey, you all wanted to clean the air. I went out downtown last night with some old friends,” Wallen tweeted after the incident. “After a few bar stops, we were playing with each other. We didn’t mean to hurt, and we want to say sorry to any bar staff or anyone affected.

Last July, Wallen welcomed a son, Indigo Wilder, with his ex KT Smith. In the middle of his headline year, the country singer admitted he had “work to do”.

“I think I got a bit lost. I tried to find joy in the wrong places and that left me with less joy,” he said. “So I’ll try to work on this. I’ll step back from the spotlight for a while and work on myself.”
