GoldenEye 007: Canceled Remaster Files Leaked

Game files for GoldenEye 007 Rare’s canceled Remaster have been shared on the Internet The remaster, originally slated for release on Xbox 360 via XBLA but ultimately canceled due to a rights issue, has come to everyone’s attention last month via a video showing a full playthrough. But now the files have been posted to archive and internet sharing sites, allowing the public to get their hands on the doomed project.

As the video uploaded to YouTube shows, this remaster lets you switch between original and enhanced visuals, much like Halo remasters. It runs at 60 frames per second and can be played at 4K, which is a leap beyond the capabilities of the Xbox 360 console it was designed for.

In the remaster’s YouTube video, downloader Graslu00 says they were told that the game might be released in some form to the public in 2021. It looks like the release has come very quickly.

Playing this version requires the use of an emulator or a modified Xbox 360, so it’s important to note that anyone looking to search for the files will be in some murky legal waters, not to mention the fact that the game has them. -even probably fled from the inside. Rare and can therefore be considered as stolen property.

For Legitimate Bond, we can all look forward to Project 007 from developer Hitman IO Interactive. The studio certainly proved their Bond credentials in Hitman 3.
