The total number of cases in Illinois now stands at 1,144,281, with a total of 19,585 deaths, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the past 24 hours, laboratories reported 90,295 samples for a total of 16,555,035.

As of Friday night, 2,271 patients from Illinois were in hospital with COVID-19. Of these, 485 patients were in intensive care and 246 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
The positivity of the seven-day statewide preliminary test from Jan.30 to Feb. 5 is 4.2%.

A total of 1,635,925 doses of vaccine were delivered to suppliers in Illinois, including Chicago, with 496,100 additional doses allocated to federal partners for long-term care facilities, bringing the total number to administered in Illinois at 2,132,025.
The IDPH reports that a total of 1,294,498 doses of vaccine were administered, of which 188,351 were in long-term facilities. The seven-day moving average of vaccines administered is 49,909.
The IDPH says vaccine distribution figures are reported in real time and vaccine delivery figures are late for up to 72 hours.
Chicago coronavirus test sites will be closed for “bad weather,” starting Friday.
City-run test sites will remain closed Friday through Wednesday, according to a notification from the city.
Thursday’s storm will be followed by a deep frost that will extend into next week. Temperatures may not exceed single digits, and wind chills can reach minus 30 degrees in what city officials have called an “arctic explosion.”
Anyone who needs testing in the next few days should contact their health care provider.
“Honestly, from a safety perspective, we don’t want staff and volunteers to be potentially exposed,” said Dr Allison Arwady, CRPD. “And there is walk-in availability on the site. We don’t want people to walk.”
The frigid conditions also prompted Loretto Hospital on the West Side to move its walk-in tests indoors.
“We are currently converting our physiotherapy room on the ground floor, which is quite large and very spacious, into a COVID testing area,” said Afya Khan, infection control practitioner at Loretto Hospital.
The city’s vaccination sites, which operate indoors, will remain open, as will the Lake County Fairgrounds mass vaccination site in Grayslake. Local officials said the need to frequently turn staff out of the cold could cause delays.
Northwestern University professor Hani Mahmassani, an expert in transport and logistics, said vaccination clinics are unlikely to show up.
“There will be staffing issues,” she explained, “and also no-shows with regard to patients. And in some cases, you don’t want patients to come out during this time, especially for some elderly people who are currently group being vaccinated. “
