Someone tells Elon Musk that bandanas are not masks

WHO: Elon Musk

Location: West Hollywood.

What he wears: A black t-shirt celebrating the 50th anniversary of Apollo XI, black jeans, a leather jacket and a black and white bandana.

Editor’s Notes: Don’t be a fool. Just a few weeks ago, we saw an unmasked Musk approaching Joe Rogan and Dave Chappelle (shortly before the comedian hired Covid). Yet even with all the money and scientific knowledge he has, Musk hasn’t learned how to mask himself properly.

Over the past year, the bandana has become the mask of choice for celebrities who don’t quite have the memo (Johnny Depp, Bruce Willis et al). Of course, authorities’ mask guidelines have been confusing and at times contradictory, with health officials previously urging the public not to purchase masks, due to a major shortage of essential protective equipment. But if you can colonize Mars, surely you can put on an N95 respirator – especially if you’re going to eat out during a pandemic.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, a bandana is useful, but only if you used the material as a base to create your own well-fitting mask. Tying one around your face won’t do much to protect yourself or others, and communicates a boomer, “IDGF” attitude to those in your neighborhood.

Fortunately, the mask game has come a long way over the past year or so, which means you can protect yourself and others while looking good. PPE gear is now firmly woven into the fabric of everyday life and is produced by Marine Serre and Off-White ™.
