Billy Brown, Patriarch of “Alaskan Bush People”, has passed away at the age of 68.
Representatives of the show confirmed his death to Fox News on Monday.
“We are devastated to learn of the sudden passing of Billy Brown. He has been part of the Discovery family for years – a pioneer, a lovable man and most certainly one of a kind,” the statement said. “Our heart is with his family and those who knew and loved him as they face this devastating loss.”
Brown appeared during the show’s first eight seasons as a self-sufficient family man living off the earth alongside his wife, Ami, according to IMDb.

According to People Magazine, Billy’s son Bear also opened up about the death on his private Instagram, confirming that he passed away on Sunday after suffering a seizure.

“We are sorry to announce that our beloved Patriarch Billy Brown passed away last night after suffering from a seizure,” the caption read, according to the outlet. “He was our best friend – a wonderful, loving father, grandfather and husband and he will be dearly missed.”
Bear, 33, added: “He has lived his life on his terms, off the grid and off the earth and taught us to live that way. We plan to honor his legacy in the future and pursue his dream. We ask for privacy and prayers during this painful time. God bless everyone! “

In 2017, the Brown family moved to Washington after Ami, 57, was diagnosed with lung cancer so she could receive treatment.
