Launch on PS4, PS5 and Steam.
Maquette, the gorgeous “recursive” first-person puzzle adventure from developer Graceful Decay, finally has a release date and will arrive on PlayStation and PC on March 2.
A mockup, in case you were wondering, is a small preliminary model created by a sculptor before embarking on a large-scale project. It’s a pretty apt moniker for a game that features model-like environments placed in larger-scale versions of themselves – which, in turn, are again in larger-scale versions – and where changes made to one model are reflected in everyone.
For example, dropping a cube on a model courtyard could (to use an example shown in the last trailer below) cause a larger version of that cube to materialize simultaneously in the courtyard surrounding the model, providing may -be a way to progress.
Annapurna Interactive – the publisher behind the famous Outer Wilds, What Remains of Edith Finch, I Am Dead, and now this – more succinctly describes Maquette as “a unique puzzle game about exploring relationships in a recursive world” .
Its spatial puzzles intertwine with a “love, loss and acceptance” story centered on Kenzie and Michael, a fictional couple reflecting on their relationship, played by Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World, Black Mirror) and Seth Gabel (Fringe, Nip / Tuck) respectively.
Mockup will retail for US $ 19.99 (around £ 15) for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam early next month, March 2.
