It seems that the Paul Johnson era at Georgia Tech is over.
The head coach is retiring, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has learned.
Johnson's decision to retire is a surprise, at the end of his 11th season at Tech and his 40th as a coach. The Yellow Jackets finished the regular season at 7-5, winning four of their last five games.
The Johnson era at Tech ends with a record of 83-59, the longest term and the most wins for a head coach at school since coach Bobby Dodd's retirement.
Johnson's tenure has been marked by some of the greatest triumphs since Dodd's resignation after the 1966 season
