CHICAGO – Walgreens says its COVID-19 vaccine appointment booking website is back up and running on Tuesday after users reported outages earlier today.

A Walgreens spokesperson said he believed the outage was caused by an influx of people trying to schedule a date, causing the server to crash.

“We are committed to providing a seamless planning experience to achieve the common goal of immunizing our most vulnerable populations as quickly as possible,” the spokesperson said.

The outage comes as U.S. pharmacies such as Walgreens and CVS prepare for a million additional doses of the vaccine promised by the White House last week.

So far, more than 32 million Americans have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Walgreens told ABC News that from Tuesday they will start accepting appointments for vaccines as early as Friday, prioritizing healthcare workers, people over 65 and people with illnesses. pre-existing.
