The gunman who killed a nurse and injured four other people at a Minnesota clinic delivered a haunting message a day earlier, telling a local motel owner, “Tomorrow my job is definitely over.”

Gregory Ulrich, who is due to make his first court appearance on Thursday, made the comment Monday to Super 8 motel owner in Buffalo, Minnesota, Mona Patel, when she offered him a discount on a room, said CNN in a report.

Lindsay Overbay, a 37-year-old nurse with two young children, was killed in the shooting.

“He was telling me he didn’t have a lot of money because he was over 65,” Patel told the network. “He said, ‘Mona, I don’t have a car and I don’t have a lot of money.'”

“I said if you took a whole week I would give you a cheaper rate because you ran out of money,” she told Ulrich. “And he said, ‘No, tomorrow my job will be finished. So just give me one (more) night and if it’s not I can buy more nights. ”

Patel said she didn’t force it.

The next day, police said Ulrich walked into the Allina Health Clinic in Buffalo, about 40 miles outside of Minneapolis, and opened fire.

Five people were affected and a medical assistant, Lindsay Overbay, 37, later died.

Ulrich is charged with second degree murder, four counts of attempted first degree premeditated murder and possession of explosive or incendiary devices.

Records show he has had more than 40 previous encounters with cops.
