After a playoff series that allowed him to score four touchdowns in total, Leonard Fournette could look forward to a raise in 2021. However, at the end of the day, the running back would like to stay with the Buccaneers.

“We’ll see,” Fournette said during an appearance on ESPN (via Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.com). “Right now I’m just enjoying the process right now with this W with this organization and my team. You never know what the future holds for me right now, you know? I ended up on an excellent note. I would love to be back. We’ll have to talk to my agent and see what he’s talking about.
The former fourth overall pick was unceremoniously abandoned by the Jaguars at the end of the 2020 preseason. He ultimately had to settle for a one-year, $ 2 million contract with Tampa Bay, and he served as Ronald jones‘backup during the early parts of the season. Fournette held the starter position in Week 15, and he hasn’t given up that role for the rest of the season and the playoffs. He did his best during the playoffs, recording four scores and 448 scrum yards in four games.
Aaron Jones, Chris Carson, and Kenyan Drake sit at the top of the free agent market, but Fournette could easily slip into that second tier of running backs. It is conceivable that the Buccaneers could seek to pay for Fournette’s services; Ronald Jones has only one year left on his contract, leaving 2020 third round Ke’Shawn Vaughn as the only long-term response to the post. On the other hand, the Buccaneers may find it more responsible to pursue veterans who chase the ring instead of paying to keep Fournette.
