Warning, Valheim players – a “world destroyer” bug resets characters and worlds and developer Iron Gate has yet to be able to crush it.
“If you’re playing Valheim this weekend, please save your world and your characters,” tweeted Iron Gate CEO Richard Svensson. “The evil world destroyer bug is still on the loose = (.

“This is an evil bug, which we haven’t been able to reproduce once yet :(. It seems to happen more often if you exit the game using ALT + F4, so try using menu-> exit at the up, ”Svensson added.
For now, however, players are advised to locate their game files – “in Windows, worlds and characters are saved in C: Users Username AppData LocalLow IronGate Valheim ” – and copy them , keeping a backup safe somewhere else just in case you are affected.
If you’ve already lost data, also try checking these folders, as you might find older backups hidden away – look for the .db.old and .fwl.old files, and remove the .old to use them again (thanks , PC player).
Valheim may have just launched on Steam in Early Access earlier this month on February 2, but it’s already has sailed over a million players. In fact, it had a maximum concurrent player count of just over 160,000, making it the fourth most played game on Steam at any given time. It is an incredible feat of the game of Iron Gate.
As we detailed yesterday when Valheim roadmap for 2021 has been revealed, if you don’t know it, it’s basically a Nordic survival game. You’ve stumbled across a Nordic map with nothing but clothes on your back, and tasked with scavenging and surviving, fending off enemies and creatures while trying to build your own colony. So far, this formula has proven to be a huge hit with Steam players.
