The sun rises over snow-capped Alamo in San Antonio

SAINT ANTHONY – Overnight snow blanketed the Alamo and the rest of downtown – a sight rarely seen.

Sarah Acosta of KSAT reported live from the San Antonio monument on Monday morning and said that Alamo Plaza received about 2 inches of snow.

KSAT viewers uploaded stunning images of icy conditions and snow to our KSAT Connect page throughout the weekend and overnight through Monday morning as temperatures plummeted.

From Sunday night to Monday, San Antonio and the surrounding area have seen 3-6 inch snowfall – something the area has experienced since 1985.

Transportation and local government officials are asking people to avoid travel as much as possible due to the freezing conditions.

Widespread winter weather has moved towards the end of Sunday and will continue very early Monday morning. A mixture of rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow swept through the KSAT viewing area as temperatures fell into the 20s and teens.
