The outlet reports that Limbaugh himself told the story on his radio show upon his return from the wedding.
He alleged that he and John first crossed paths at a hotel in Hawaii. When Limbaugh was hospitalized in Hawaii soon after, he learned that John had inquired about his health. Seeing an opportunity, his future wife wrote the artist a letter asking if he would be ready to perform at their wedding. Limbaugh alleged at the time that there was no reluctance on John’s part to play.
Furnish said in his interview with People that the couple “were incredibly courteous and very welcoming and very kind and very grateful.”

In the following years, John spoke favorably of the radio host, although he didn’t always agree with him. According to a USA Today interview in 2012, he even speculated that Limbaugh did not personally share some of the beliefs about the gay community he married on air.
