The Buckeyes offered a scholarship to Ellenwood, Ga. Cedar Grove, 2022 defensive tackle class Christen miller a little over a week ago. This afternoon they gifted another Georgia star, the 2023 defensive end Lebbeus Overton by Alpharetta (Georgia) Milton. Overton posted the offer on his Twitter account.
“Glad to receive a dual athletic scholarship at Ohio State University,” Overton said.
Overton is also a star on the Milton basketball court. In fact, Overton has quite the family sports experience as can be seen in his 247Sports profile:
Athlete in two sports of football and basketball. His father Milton was a four-year starter on the offensive line in Oklahoma and is the current athletic director for Kennesaw State, working in Alabama, TCU Texas A&M and Florida A&M along the way. Her mother, Eunice Thomas, played on the Kentucky volleyball court and went on to coach at the college level before working in academic board and admissions at several of the schools mentioned. His older brother Micaiah Overton is a red-shirted first-year defensive lineman at Liberty.
In addition to the state of Ohio, Overton has a list of offers that also includes Georgia, Florida, Alabama, LSU, Michigan state, Tennessee, South Carolina, state of Florida and many others.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Overton is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports rankings. He is the country’s first prospect in 2023, the No.1 defensive end on the strong side and the No.1 prospect in Georgia.
The Buckeyes signed a 5-star 2021 defensive end Jack sawyer and will be looking to sign at least two 2023 defensive end classes. Ohio State Defensive Line Coach Larry johnson is considered by many to be the best varsity defensive line coach in the country and is also an outstanding recruiter.
The Buckeyes do not yet have a 2022 defensive commitment.
The Buckeyes have no commitments from a 2023 prospect yet, but have a spectacular start in their 2022 recruiting class. They have commitments from the nation’s No.1 prospect in the 5-star quarterback. Quinn Ewers from Texas, 5-star cornerback Jaheim Singletary from Florida, another 5 stars in wide receiver Caleb burton of Texas, No. 1 prospect in Ohio and No. 2 outside linebacker in the country Gabe Powers, the # 1 prospect in Kansas state linebacker Dasan mccullough, Ohio’s No.2 in linebacker CJ Hicks, Buckeyes No.4 in offensive lineman Tegra Tshabola, Ohio’s fifth cornerback prospect Jyaire Brown, and two upper tight end targets in Bennett Christian from Georgia and Benji gosnell from North Carolina. That’s a class of ten early engagements, nine of the ten being 5 or 4 star leads. It is a class that is ranked as the # 1 recruiting class in the country in the 247Sports Composite team recruiting rankings.
