Rumor: Nintendo could make its first announcement in virtual reality for Switch this year

An article by Emily Rogers on the Nintendo World Report suggests that an announcement related to virtual reality for the switch might arrive as early as this year. This information allegedly comes from "multiple sources" as Rogers explained how a "small, small number of traditional software titles" could potentially receive support for virtual reality in a "not-so-distant future".

GoNintendo revived the fire, revealing how a "very reliable source" claimed that VR support for the switch was, in fact, true Nintendo Labo would be one of the first games to support it. At the present time, there is no detail on what this supposed Labo Kit would contain or how it would be called.

Last October, at the Geekwire Summit in Seattle, Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aimé explained how Nintendo is experimenting with virtual reality technology, while saying it should be fun to get the green light:

"It's something we constantly think and experience, and for virtual reality we said, it's the technology that we're looking at, but in the end it has to be fun, it's our mission, and that's what we probably do better than anyone else. "

Although there was nothing to announce at that time, Reggie pointed out how much VR technology was a technology that Nintendo would continue to experiment on.

As the Nintendo World Report notes, there are several signs that Nintendo is considering moving from virtual reality to switch. Last August, data processing companies discovered a "VR mode" splitting the screen hidden in the Switch system firmware. In 2016, the hybrid device would have been delayed to improve its VR capabilities. The same year, the company also filed a patent application for a screen mounted on the head. Last month, it was revealed that Nintendo would participate as an observer of a joint Japanese company known as the VRM Consortium.
