Bond 25 receded by two months until April 2020 – Variety

James Bond will arrive two months later than planned because the GMM has postponed the release date of the untitled Bond 25 film from February 14 to April 8, 2020 – a Wednesday before the start of the Easter weekend.

This is the second delay for Bond 25. MGM and Eon had originally announced in 2017 that the film would be opened on November 8, 2019, and then transferred to February 14, 2020, after the release of Danny Boyle from the post of director and his replacement by Cary. Joji Fukunaga.

Universal will be responsible for international distribution on Bond 25, while MGM will deliver the national distribution in partnership with Annapurna through the new United Artists Releasing label.

Daniel Craig returns with Bond and Lea Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw will resume their 2015 roles in Specter, directed by Sam Mendes. The last two episodes have become the most profitable films in the series, with "Skyfall" generating $ 1.1 billion worldwide and "Specter" with $ 880.7 million at the global counter.

Bond 25 will begin filming on March 4 with Craig in the lead for the fifth time. Fukunaga, whose credits include "Jane Eyre" and "Beasts of No Nation," became the first American director in franchise history under MGM and Eon. The team of Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, co-authors of the last six James Bond movies dating from "The World Is Not Enough," came back to write the screenplay.

The decision to postpone Bond 25 will give producers in Fukunaga and Eon, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, additional time to finish a complex and expensive production. The production cost of "Spectrum" has been estimated at $ 250 million.

The launch of the Easter weekend puts Bond 25 a few weeks before the traditional start of the summer season to success. Marvel-Disney will open "Avengers: Endgame" on April 26th of this year; he titled Untitled Marvel opening on May 1, 2020.

Friday's announcement about Bond 25 comes a few minutes after Universal announced that it had postponed "Fast and Furious 9" for six weeks, from April 10 to May 22, 2020 – beginning of the weekend Memorial Day.

James Bond's last seven films, dating back to the 1995 GoldenEye, were opened in the fall corridor. "License to Kill", from 1989, is the latest film to be released outside of the fall with Timothy Dalton as James Bond.
