The Buffalo Bills broke away from Charles Clay on Friday after four seasons on the team. Now that his stay in Buffalo is officially over, here are seven thoughts on Clay and his release.

Cheaper options in free agency
In addition to the bill, bills can add another close end to the free agency. Whether it's Jared Cook, Jesse James, Tyler Eifert or another free agent, the Bills should be able to bring a member of the restricted group to a rate lower than the one they had planned to pay to Clay in 2019.

The team saw enough Jason Croom
While the Bills will certainly add at least one tight end this season off, Buffalo has probably seen enough of Jason Croom to think that he could realistically replace Clay's production in the future. The 24-year-old tight end has the potential to be a solid No. 2 tight end of the NFL.
