It’s a good thing that there is a lot of room to waste in space. The Star Trek universe will expand with two new exclusive series for the Paramount Plus streaming service.
On Wednesday, ViacomCBS teased the new shows during a Paramount Plus Investor Day detailing the service to come. A derivative series called Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Will follow the continuing adventures of Captain Pike and Mr. Spock, characters who appeared on both the original 1960s show and on Discovery (with various cast). Star Trek: Prodigy, a Trek animated series aimed at a younger audience, will arrive on Paramount Plus before heading to Nickelodeon.
CBS All Access was home for a new crop of the Star Trek series that premiered in recent years including the flagship Star Trek: Discovery, the nostalgic Star Trek: Picard and animation Star Trek: Lower Bridges. CBS All Access offerings will now be absorbed into the new Paramount Plus service.
Paramount Plus seems to rely heavily on its famous sci-fi franchise, like CBS All Access.
