Dunkin ‘just made a millennial play by adding avocado toast to their spring 2021 menu.
Starting today, foodies can purchase the chain’s avocado toast for $ 2.99 (plus tax) at any location in the United States.
Dunkin ‘Avocado Toast contains what he calls a “creamy and appetizing avocado spread” made with avocado, sea salt, black pepper and lemon juice. Ingredients are spread on toasted sourdough bread and garnished with all of the bagel seasoning.
This release comes after a turbulent 2020 for Dunkin ‘, which has gone beyond social media by launching fruitful collaborations (including one with TikTok star Charli D’Amelio) and marketing to Generation Z.
Still, Dunkin ‘is about five years behind the once colossal food trend.
People on Twitter weighed in on the latest dunkin ‘menu item – and joked about millennials
After news of the avocado toast spread online, some users took to Twitter to share their excitement and early reviews.
“It may be a controversial tweet, but Dunkin ‘avocado toast was a 10/10 for me,” one person wrote.

Even those who were a little less excited about the flavors of the avocado spread agreed that it was good enough to order again.

But others were more hesitant to get on the bandwagon.
“I want to meet whoever has the courage to order Dunkin’s new avocado toast,” one person tweeted.
Some who tried it didn’t think the flavor was good at all, calling the spread “too lemony.” Others joked that the channel would start trying to tap into other stereotypical millennial food trends, like charcuterie boards.

Many took the opportunity to joke about millennials and avocado toast, often hailed as the generation’s favorite food.

More than one tweet referred to a 2017 quote from Tim Gurner, an Australian millionaire who suggested that millennials couldn’t afford a house because they spend money on “crushed lawyers for $ 19”.
“Broooo, donut dunkin ‘has avocado toast now. As a millennial, I can absolutely forget about owning a home,” someone wrote.

The popularity of avocado toast has skyrocketedin the 2010s, partially thanks to Gwyneth Paltrow, but it’s been a lot longer
Although Dunkin ‘has just added the millennial favorite to its menu, avocado toast has been a delicious and popular snack for much longer.
The Washington Post reported that while avocado toast has always been popular in places like Mexico, Australia and California, one of the more recent iterations in the United States has come from Cafe Gitane in New York.
Café Gitane became known as “OG avocado toast,” which had been on its menu since 2006, according to the Washington Post. Food blogs then posted recipes based on Cafe Gitane’s version, which added red pepper flakes.
But the brunch dish really became an online fixation after Gwyneth Paltrow included an avocado toast recipe in her 2013 cookbook, “It’s All Good,” The Washington Post reported.
Google Trends analysis shows that searches for “avocado toast” really started to increase in 2016. It was also named the best breakfast trend of 2017, according to a report from the tracking app of MyFitnessPal health.
Food bloggers have started copying Paltrow’s recipe and creating their own versions to share on social media. Even Kylie Jenner shared a sweet and spicy avocado toast recipe that splits in September.
