First Lady Jill Biden says she still doesn’t know why her darling moment on Valentine’s Day sparked a fanbase.
In an exclusive interview on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” aired Thursday, the first lady spoke with the TV host and singer on a variety of topics, including divorce and the nightly date ritual. which she and President Joe Biden follow every day.
At one point, Clarkson asked Biden about a photo the first lady shared on social media earlier in February. In the Photo, Biden visits a Capitol Hill bakery, The Sweet Lobby, to buy desserts for Valentine’s Day.

At the time, Biden not only sent a heartwarming message by spotlighting a small business, but she also unwittingly made a statement by sporting her hair in a ponytail with a light pink scrunchie.
The fabric headband style had its heyday in the 80s and 90s, but has made a comeback in recent years.
Seeing the first lady wearing the casual accessory – something that can be bought at a drugstore and that millions of Americans arguably have in their hair care arsenal – was a relatable moment for many of her fans.
In his interview with Biden, Clarkson asked, “I noticed you wear a scrunchie and everyone’s lost their minds. I think we all wear scrunchies. Are you usually a fashionista with your scrunchies?”
The first lady said it was actually her daughter, Ashley Biden, who told her about the darling craze.
“You know my daughter called me right after I left that store and said, ‘Mom, everyone’s talking about this darling.’ I said, “What darling?” I didn’t know what she was talking about. I still don’t understand, ”Biden told Clarkson.
“Well, I’m just saying if you want to start bringing back scrunchies, throw out the banana clips too,” Clarkson replied.
In Biden’s popular darling photo, she also wears $ 168 Lele Sadoughi flower-shaped earrings that complemented her light pink coat – which appeared to be the same from the HiSO brand that she wore on the night of the day. ballot in November 2020.
