Three officers in Wichita, Kansas were injured in a possible explosion Saturday at a vacant house they were sent to check, authorities said.
Police officer seriously injured and was stable in hospital, Wichita Police Department tweeted. The other two were slightly injured and were also hospitalized, the department said.
A SWAT team was “activated” as part of the department’s response to the incident, which occurred after the 4 p.m. dispatch, police said. The department’s bomb squad was also at the address.
Agents from the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were at the scene, ATF tweeted.
“It’s still an active situation”, Wichita police mentionned.
The house is located south of downtown Wichita, according to NBC affiliate KSNW.
