Intelligence community investigates links between lawmakers and Capitol rioters

Intelligence community is investigating any links between lawmakers and rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6, US official told CNN.

Investigation so far has found that some suspected rioters had ties to lawmakers or had direct contact with them prior to January 6, but there is no evidence that lawmakers were involved in the riot or were involved in the riot. personally helped one of the rioters, the official said.

Authorities have been investigating pro-Trump rioters who stormed the Capitol on January 6 for months and were able to arrest hundreds of people involved in the riot that resulted in the deaths of five people.

Officials are still arresting those who stormed the Capitol but will begin to focus on who planned the attack, who funded them and what connection, if any, lawmakers had.

Authorities are now watching video footage of the tours to see if there was a link between the tours and the rioters. If links are found between the rioters and lawmakers, authorities could obtain a warrant to view the communications, CNN reported.

There has so far been no evidence that a lawmaker was involved in the riot and officials are not watching any lawmakers at this time, the official told CNN.
