Well, Russell Wilson won’t be traded to the Cowboys, not with Dak Prescott signing a four-year contract. But that doesn’t mean the Seattle situation is under contract.

Case in point: Via NBC Sports Northwest, the Seahawks recently sent a letter to holders of a second ticket. The letter makes no mention of quarterback Russell Wilson.

He mentions receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. He mentions new offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and new run-game coordinator Andy Dickerson. But he doesn’t mention Russell Wilson.

Some will miss the point, but it’s important. Presumably, the Seahawks don’t want to be accused of promising Wilson will play in the games recipients will buy tickets for. It’s a recognition, implicitly, of the larger situation between the player and the team, which could still result in a trade-off.

Although the trade will not arrive in Dallas, an exchange cannot be ruled out. Is an exchange likely? No. But the possibility is strong enough that the Seahawks will exclude Wilson from the effort to get fans to revive for another season.
