It won’t be long before Samsung launches the Galaxy Watch 4, according to a new report. The laptop, which has been at the center of rumors in recent weeks, could be available as early as spring, which is fast approaching.
According to UniverseIce, Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch Active 4 will be available in Q2 2021. No exact date is given, but previous reports have suggested a similar timeline, so we’re inclined to believe the devices will launch soon. (It’s already March!)

UniverseIce is not sharing any other information, but the Twitter account previously said that Samsung will be launching a new smartwatch with Wear OS instead of Tizen. If that’s true, it could be a big boost for Google’s portable platform, which hasn’t really thrived in recent months. Launching a new smartwatch with Wear OS could be a huge vote of confidence for the platform, and possibly help it compete with Apple’s watchOS.
We’ve heard a few other rumors about Samsung’s upcoming smartwatch, including that it might come with a blood glucose meter. According to a previous report, the laptop could use an optical sensor that can monitor a person’s blood sugar without drawing blood, which often helps track a person’s blood sugar. For people with diabetes, this could be a huge improvement over the painful alternatives currently available. Incidentally, the next Apple Watch could also be launched with a similar functionality.
Not too long ago, Samsung released the Galaxy Watch 3, which supported ECG, blood pressure monitoring, and a host of activity tracking capabilities. The Galaxy Watch 4 launch would be much earlier than expected, but if it comes with the ability to monitor a person’s blood sugar, we can see why Samsung would want to launch it sooner rather than later.
