Apple's efforts in video streaming really began in 2017 with the hiring of Jamie Ehrlicht and Zack Van Amburg, two veterans of Sony Television. Ehrlicht and Amburg are co-leaders of Apple's global video programming division and report to Eddy Cue.
On Sony TV, Ehrlicht and Amburg have spearheaded some of the biggest television shows, including Breaking Bad, Better Caul Saul, The Crown, and so on.

By hiring outside executives from such renowned studios, Apple seems to indicate that it is ready to compete with Netflix and Amazon for the original content and its streaming video service.

Apple has signed dozens of TV shows and movies for its video streaming service. Broadcasts range from science fiction to comedy to drama and include celebrity castes.
While the original content of Netflix is notoriously renowned for its flawless agility, Apple takes a different approach. Two reports from Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal highlighted Apple's aversion to language, violence and adult nudity in its TV shows.
According to the WSJ, among the programs produced by Apple, "only a few" will go to the territory of TV-MA. Bloomberg, meanwhile, says that Apple wants its TV shows to be "Apple-ready" and focuses on "comedies and emotional dramas" similar to what you might see on NBC.
So, what TV shows can we expect from Apple? Many of them.
Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Steve Carell will be one of Apple's flagship TV shows. The drama will revolve around a morning show and offer a look at "the lives of people who help the United States to wake up in the morning." The big productions do not stop there. J.J Abrams produces two TV shows for Apple. One will be starring Jennifer Garner, while the other is a dramatic comedy with Abrams and Sara Bareilles.
As far as movies are concerned, Apple's efforts in this country are not as vast as its TV shows. Apple associates with the A24 film studio to produce original films. The first collaboration between the two is a film "On the Rocks" starring Bill Murray and Rashida Jones, with Sofia Coppola as director and producer.

The competition
Apple faces fierce competition in the area of original content. Netflix, Amazon and Hulu, for example, continue to excel in content creation and it's hard to ignore that Apple is late for the party.
