The Oppo Find X3 Pro’s microlens camera takes wild photos

Oppo announced its flagship Find X3 Pro smartphone earlier this week and focused attention on its dual 50-megapixel 10-bit cameras and billion-color curved display. These are great, but its 3-megapixel “micro-lens” camera could be the real star of the show.

While it doesn’t boast much in terms of resolution, the types of images the Find X3 microlens can capture are really unusual, not just from a smartphone point of view, but all cameras. While the idea of ​​a 60x zoom microscopic camera sounds extremely neat, it might just be a gadget that you will actually enjoy.

Digital trends and PetaPixel Mobile phone specialist Andy Boxall tested the Oppo Find X3 this week and posted some of the images he took using the microlens. While he fears that many “camera snobs” will immediately turn their noses in front of a camera’s low-resolution microscope, he is rather excited about what he was able to capture.

While this is obviously not the highest resolution and they seem to tend to display significant noise in less perfect lighting, the perspective you can get with a 60x microscope zoom is really eye-catching. From left to right above, Boxall shows how the camera sees fabric, a map, foam, and a phone screen.

Boxall wasn’t the only one who was impressed with this feature. YouTuber Michael Fisher has praised the microlens camera as capable of pushing the phone’s camera capabilities into a new realm.

The photos above are not only beautiful, but also extremely difficult to identify due to the unique perspective – gadget or not, it’s amazing.
