Yes there is a few Ambiguity continues in Microsoft’s wording, but many PlayStation fans likely find themselves trapped in the first stage of grief: denial. Phil Spencer and his cohorts could probably still be a little clearer, but the writing is on the wall: Once Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo are released, outside of ongoing service games like Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls Online, a Bethesda game will no longer be released on a PlayStation platform.
It’s a disruptive and hugely disappointing development that threatens to upend the status quo of the industry. While there’s nothing blatantly surprising about the move – Bethesda was a publisher that regularly pumped up commercial issues – it does mean that the PlayStation 5’s software package is destined to be weaker overall. You might have your own take on the Fallout, DOOM, and The Elder Scrolls franchises – but these are undoubtedly important franchises to lose.
