Ironworker electrocuted while working on the Third Track project

An ironworker was electrocuted on Saturday while working on the Third Track Project in Nassau County.

News 12 learned that the incident happened around 9:30 a.m. at Mineola Long Island Rail Road station.

MTA officials said a contract construction crew was installing a pedestrian bridge when a crane encountered a power line. The ironworker was on the bridge at the time.

She was rushed to hospital and is in critical condition. The MTA launched an investigation into the incident and all work on the project came to a halt.
