Ma is a part-time resident of the western Massachusetts city and received her vaccine doses at Berkshire Community College. The world-famous cellist’s posts quickly went viral, with Ma’s name trending nationally on Twitter on Saturday night.
It was far from the first time Ma had used her music to bring joy to others during the pandemic. Him and pianist Emanuel’s Ax performed a series of pop-up concerts in the back of a flatbed truck for first responders and essential workers last fall, and Ma tweeted videos of himself playing throughout the pandemic with the hashtag #SongsOfComfort.
