Switch is now Nintendo’s second best-selling system in the United States, in “Tracked History”

The last NPD data revealed that “total lifetime dollar sales” of Switch hardware in the US has now overtaken the Nintendo DS.

This apparently makes the system the second best-selling “Nintendo platform” in tracking history in the country. The Wii is still number one. Overall, this makes Nintendo’s latest hybrid system the seventh. top-selling video game hardware in the United States (no figures provided).

“Total dollar sales of Switch hardware now exceed those of the Nintendo DS, making it Nintendo’s second-best-selling platform in US tracking history (Nintendo Wii ranks # 1).

Nintendo’s hardware has been so successful over the past month. NPD’s Mat Piscatella noted that it was also the “best-selling” system of February 2021 (again, no figures were attached).

It also had the best-selling hardware of all platforms in February since the Nintendo Wii in 2009:

Nintendo Switch was the top-selling hardware platform in units and dollars in February. Sales in units and dollars of Nintendo Switch hardware in February were the highest of any hardware platform in February since Nintendo Wii in February 2009. “

On the software side, Nintendo performed just as well – NPD data revealing proprietary version Super Mario 3D World + Bowser Fury was the best-selling game last month. This improved reissue of the Wii U is also the second best-selling game of 2021 to date, just behind the latest entry in the Call of Duty series.
