The Chicago Bears hunt for a starting quarterback included an attempt to sign a replacement for the New Orleans Saints and former 2015 NFL Draft First Pick Jameis Winston.
The attempt failed, of course, as Winston agreed to a one-year contract to return to the Saints on Monday night.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Bears passed Winston that was incomplete.
The Bears were a contender for Jameis Winston before signing with the Saints, according to the source. Chicago is exhausting all options.

Interestingly, longtime Bears reporter Brad Biggs tweeted that Winston was a ‘Plan B’ at Halas Hall, suggesting GM Ryan Pace has his sights set on a bigger take.
Russell Wilson, maybe?
At this point, it’s Wilson or the bust. Free agents like Andy Dalton and Ryan Fitzpatrick don’t offer any more advantages than Nick Foles, and investing any kind of guaranteed money or free agent dollars in them just wouldn’t make sense.
Hoping Pace has another successful business in the tank.
