Several hundred people gathered in Oakland on Saturday for a “Stop Asian Hate” rally.

The rally, organized by Thrash the State, was organized to protest an increase in violence against Asian Americans.

Actress Sandra Oh, who is in town to film the Netflix series, “The Chair,” made a surprise appearance.

Part of Forbes Avenue was blocked for about two hours as several people including Oh spoke and shared their experiences with the crowd. The group then traveled to the Carnegie Mellon University campus.
