Raffensperger oversaw three recounts, confirming Joe Biden’s victory over Trump in Georgia, the first by a Democratic presidential candidate since 1992.
Hice was a strong supporter of Trump’s electoral challenges in Georgia despite any evidence of widespread fraud. In January, Hice proudly voted against certifying the 2020 election and then blamed Raffensperger for Trump’s loss, even though the Georgian Secretary of State simply reaffirmed the vote count.
“I guarantee you Georgia is not blue,” Hice said at the Conservative Political Action Conference in February. “What happened in the last election was all due to a horrible Secretary of State and the horrible decisions he made.”
In December, Hice falsely told Fox News radio that “there had been so many credible accusations of fraud” and called Raffensperger’s work “nothing embarrassing and downright bogus.”
“I’m telling you, Georgia’s Secretary of State Raffensperger must be among the worst in the country,” Hice said.
Raffensperger’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
