Sony may have officially relaunched its web-based PlayStation Store last year, but savvy users have still been able to access the old one through a legacy hyperlink. Amid rumors that the company is set to shut down its PS3, PS Vita and PSP storefronts altogether, the platform owner has now locked down its classic online store.

Many preferred the old web-based PS Store for its interface and also for the fact that it included the aforementioned consoles. Although the new online store has a more modern design, it is extremely slow and only includes PS5 and PS4 software. The fact that so many people bemoan the closure of the classic version illustrates how bad the new page is.

The platform owner has yet to announce exactly what it intends to do with its PS3, PS Vita, and PSP storefronts, but many see the classic online store closing as confirmation of an imminent announcement. Personally, we are surprised that Sony allowed fans to access the old page for so a long time, and as such we are not convinced that this necessarily indicates anything.
