The Acadia GMC 2020 becomes smarter and harder

In the front, the visual updates consist of a larger grille and rectangular lights with C-shaped LED inserts. They align Acadia with the recent GMC design language. Stylists have also changed the taillights. 18- and 20-inch wheels complete the main exterior changes.

Inside, Acadia continues to offer seats for five, six or seven passengers, depending on the configuration. GMC added an electronic speed selector to free space on the center console. It incorporates a new infotainment system deemed smarter and more intuitive to use thanks to an eight-inch touch screen at higher resolution, a simpler interface and enhanced voice recognition.

The list of options includes a head-up display, although the feature is not available at launch. Buyers can also add a 15-watt wireless phone charger, while those who are on the market for a Denali model can order a rearview mirror that replaces the rearview mirror with a screen.

Motorists want technology, but GMC has also seen a growing demand for robustness. To this end, an AT4 model for the most adventurous buyers will join the lineup for 2020. It carries a trim-specific grille with touches of black chrome, a plastic body liner and 17-inch alloy wheels. Buyers can order 20-inch alloys at an additional cost. Sounds familiar? This is probably because GMC already offers the AT4 package on the Sierra.

The Acadia 2020 boasts a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 230 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 lb-ft of torque between 1,500 and 4,000 rpm. . Bolted to a nine-speed automatic transmission, it is standard on SLT and Denali models. The naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 193 horsepower and the 310-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 carry the 2019 model. Both go through the same nine-speed automatic transmission as the new four-turbo engine. ; it replaces the six – speed automatic transmission offered until the 2019 model year and promises to improve energy efficiency.

The range includes front-wheel drive and AWD models, although GMC has not revealed exactly which models come with which configuration. We know that the AT4 trim is exclusively delivered with the V6 and AWD. The six-cylinder allows it to tow up to 4,000 pounds when properly configured.

Made in Tennessee, the GMC Acadia 2020 will go on sale in the fall of 2019. Full price information and specifications will be released in the weeks leading up to the on-sale date.
