In Microsoft Flight Simulator, a ship is still stuck in the Suez Canal

the 200,000 ton cargo ship that blocked the Suez Canal for almost a week may be free, but if you want a glimpse of how Ever Given caused a global shipping crisis, all you need is a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator and a few free mods.

Flight Simulator offers almost photo-realistic views of Earth from the cockpits of more than two dozen planes, but blocked canals and sea traffic jams are not part of the base game. For that, you’ll need to get the free Suez Traffic Jam mod from Flightsim.to, along with the Global AI Ship Traffic and Dave’s Crooked Library mods. Add all three to your game, and you’ll be able to fly over the shipping crisis on your own, with an Ever Given ship stuck, all the ships stationed in the Gulf of Suez waiting for it to take off and even the excavators trying to clear the channel.

It’s a sight to behold from the sky, but technically the ship in this mod is a generic expedition ship rather than the Ever Given itself. If you want a more accurate stranded freighter, you can have it in the form of the Ever Given Landmark add-on or the partially refloated ship MOD. Each offers a slightly different interpretation of the historical event.

Fortunately, in real life, Ever Given appears to have been released, leaving Microsoft’s Flight Simulator the only place where this crisis still exists. It’s probably for the best.
