The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for much of the region from Tuesday night to Wednesday night. Snow accumulations of 5 inches or more are possible as well as a quarter of an inch or more of ice.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for much of the region from Tuesday night to Wednesday night.
Forecasters expect heavy snow, mixing with and ending up in sleet and freezing rain.
Snow accumulations of 5 inches or more are possible as well as a quarter of an inch or more of ice.
According to Storm Team4 weather forecaster Chuck Bell, between 3 and 6 inches of snow will likely be between 5:00 and 17:00. Wednesday before the warmer air turns it into a winter mix during the afternoon. It will then turn into rain late Wednesday night in Thursday morning.
"This storm is a promise of misery," said Bell.
According to Bell, expect a daily mess Wednesday morning and many cancellations and delays.
"No one is going to be happy," he said.
The temperatures will then increase in the 30's on Wednesday and will remain stable.
Bell warns that the northern and western parts of the district could see a much longer snow period and possibly melted snow or freezing rain on Wednesday night.
And the Storm Team4 meteorologist, Lauryn Ricketts, claims to be looking for floods on Thursday, as most of Wednesday's snow accumulations will likely melt Thursday with temperatures reaching 50 degrees.
It is expected that the rain will fall Thursday night and Friday will be dry, but another storm is expected to arrive this weekend and could remain in the area until Sunday.
