Warzone quietly adds new round of bombing killings, Foresight returns

Call of Duty: Warzone has added a potentially powerful new killstreak with this morning’s huge update.

Bombing is obtained from the freshly unlocked Containment Monitor stations located on the map.

This new killstreak is listed in the Containment Monitor station menu under the Containment Protocol category and requires a key to unlock. This allows you to summon a barrage of missiles over the areas affected by the zombie outbreak.

To get the key, you must first activate the computer terminal in an outbreak area of the map. This starts the zombie event. Kill all the zombies and you get a yellow access card as a drop. You then use it to open the nearby yellow box, which contains the protocol access card. This is used to unlock the bombardment from a containment monitor.

Based on gameplay footage of Bombardment in action, this barrage of missiles lasts around 50 seconds – and is quite devastating. I can imagine a situation where the bombardment clears one last circle if it ends up in one of the zombie outbreak areas.

At the same time, containment monitoring stations also facilitate the return of foresight equipment. This $ 20,000 item lets you see how the circles play out throughout the game – and can be quite powerful in the hands of a team.

The bombing and foresight weren’t revealed as part of the Warzone patch notes developer Raven released overnight, for whatever reason. Maybe Raven wanted players to find out for themselves.

Eurogamer news cast: Does Sony have a responsibility to preserve its gaming history?

Speaking of patch notes, they’re pretty slim. Players had been hoping for a meta-shaking weapon balance pass, but that didn’t happen.

The highlight is a nerf to the AUG, widely regarded as one of Warzone’s most effective weapons. According to the patch notes, the baseline AUG recoil amplitude has been increased, so it should be more difficult to control.

Elsewhere, there are a few changes to attachments:

  • Muzzle Suppressor now correctly displays muzzle flash concealment as a pro.
  • The Cavalry Lancer cannon now increases damage dealt to vehicles.
  • Smooth Zoom / Variable Zoom Scopes now mount properly on vertical walls.
  • Fixed some ADS shot animation issues on scopes.
  • Fixed a bug where some Cold War barrels did not have the desired effects.

Also note: Armor should now consistently spawn as ground loot in all matches.

Warzone is of course preparing for a cataclysmic nuclear event. It all leads to a 1980s-themed Verdansk refresh.
