Laika goes live-action, adapting ‘Seventeen’ thriller novel – Deadline

Laika is expanding into the world of live-action filmmaking for the first time, with an adaptation of John Brownlow’s upcoming debut novel, Seventeen.

Known for their groundbreaking work in the field of stop-motion animation, Studio Oregon has secured the rights to Seventeen following an intense bidding war. The option announcement was made on Wednesday by Laika Chairman and CEO Travis Knight.

Well known for her work in film and television, Brownlow previously wrote Sylvia Plath’s biopic and romantic drama.
