LG V50 ThinQ with Sprint 5G get spotted before unveiling – Droid Life

Thanks to @evleaks again we had our first look at the next LG V50 ThinQ over the weekend, in anticipation of its unveiling scheduled for February 24 at the MWC.

It was announced that LG would move the MWC in the second half of the V Series, as usual, and would announce this phone alongside the G8 ThinQ because of the 5G. As the G8 ThinQ will not have a 5G model, the V50 ThinQ will have, as shown in the rendering provided by @evleaks.

On the picture below, we can see that the V50 looks a lot like the V40 from a few months ago. There is a slotted screen, a triple configuration of the rear camera, a fingerprint reader at the back, a yellow 5G Sprint logo at the back and a button that appears to be an assistant Dedicated Google on the left side of the phone. We're not yet sure if the phone has a headphone jack, but if you look at LG's approach to mobile audio, it seems like a sure bet that it will have one.

In terms of connectivity 5G, this new date just last August, when the two companies (LG and Sprint) have joined and announced that they would launch the first smartphone 5G mobile in the United States. At that time, we assumed it would be the G8 ThinQ. The problem is that Sprint's 5G network does not seem well suited for a nationwide phone launch. Although the cities listed below are among the largest cities in the country, 5G connectivity is not expected to be widespread.

Sprint 5G Markets

  • Atlanta
  • Chicago
  • Dallas
  • Houston
  • Kansas City
  • Los Angeles
  • New York City
  • Phoenix
  • Washington DC.

Unless you want to own the next HTC Thunderbolt, I do not know if I'd jump on my seat to recommend a V50 running Sprint's 5G, but I'll judge until LG and Sprint make the new official and we get more details about the network.
