Rebel Wilson’s new dog grooming show, “Pooch Perfect,” premiered Tuesday night with backlash on social media.
Many viewers took to Twitter and complained that the ABC competition series was abusive of dogs who are heavily groomed and dyed to match the theme of the week.
“Pooch” features Wilson as host with “Real Housewife” star Lisa Vanderpump, veterinarian Callie Harris and celebrity groomer Jorge Bendersky as judges.
“You can’t convince me that dogs like to be bitten, cut, jeweled and dressed like that,” a Twitter user said.
“This show is a disgusting show. It’s not art, it’s animal abuse. #PoochPerfect”, one person wrote.

“I just found out Pooch Perfect exists … and … I feel bad for dogs,” wrote another.
“The more I watch this show, the more I feel bad for these poor dogs”, echoed someone else.
“This show went from cute awww to omg are those doggos ok so i get traumatized real quick,” said an user.
“I just saw a promo for an upcoming show on ABC,” Pooch Perfect. “And it hurts my heart. I have a lot of questions, but overall it boils down to, how miserable are these poor dogs through this whole makeover thing?” request someone else.

“Pooch” also received positive reviews. “You can’t tell me they’re dogs! Amazing work on #PoochPerfect,” a person tweeted.

“ABC has another winner in Pooch Perfect. I can’t wait to see next week’s episode,” gushes out someone else.

Another agreed, “My whole family LOVES #PoochPerfect. Thank you @RebelWilson and @LisaVanderpump for bringing us this fun and light show. We needed it.”
