The actress and former partner of Woody Allen took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a lengthy response to “vicious rumors based on untruths.”
Mia Farrow posted a moving statement on Twitter detailing the deaths of three of her 14 children, calling them “untold tragedies” amid renewed attention to her family in the HBO sequel. Allen vs. Farrow documentary.
While the four-part series focuses on Dylan Farrow’s claim that her adoptive father Woody Allen assaulted her when she was 6 (allegations the filmmaker denies), others have focused on the lives of Farrow’s other children.
In the statement, in response to “vicious rumors based on untruths,” Mia Farrow referred to the deaths of her daughters Tam and Lark, and her son Thaddeus, who were not included in the documentary.
“Few families are perfect, and any parent who has suffered the loss of a child knows the pain is never-ending,” Farrow wrote. “However, vicious rumors based on lies have appeared online regarding the lives of three of my children. To honor their memory, their children and all the families who have had to deal with the death of a child, I am posting this message.”
Lark, whom Farrow described in his statement as “an amazing woman” and a “wonderful daughter, sister, partner and mother to her own children,” died at age 35 in 2008 from complications from HIV / AIDS. “Despite her illness, she lived a fruitful and loving life with her children and her longtime partner. She succumbed to her illness and died suddenly in hospital over Christmas, in the arms of her partner.”
She wrote that Tam died at the age of seventeen “from an accidental prescription overdose related to the painful migraines she suffered and her heart disease.”
Moses Farrow, who was adopted as a young child by Mia and co-adopted by Woody Allen in 1991, challenged Tam’s death in 2000 in his 2018 blog post and alleged it was suicide .
In Moses’ blog, he also alleged that Brother Thaddeus was abused by Farrow. But this claim was disputed by nine of Mia’s other children, because Allen vs. Farrow Remarks. Moses declined to be interviewed for the documentary.
Thaddeus was 29 when he died in 2016. Farrow described his son in the statement as “brave” and “living happily with his partner” before the relationship came to an abrupt end. “He committed suicide,” Farrow wrote.
