“I would never compare myself to Joaquin Phoenix from a distance,” Stone says.
Emma Stone and her “Cruella” director Craig Gillespie poke fun at the onslaught of “Joker” comparisons that took off on social media after the “Cruella” trailer launched last month. In Disney’s next iteration, Stone plays a younger version of the infamous “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” villain. The film traces Cruella’s corruption as it degenerates, which is why it didn’t take social media users long to mark the Disney movie’s response to “Joker.” Stone tells Total Film magazine that such comparisons shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Gillespie told the publication that “Cruella” and “Joker” are only similar in the sense that, like Joaquin Phoenix’s “Joker” character Arthur Fleck, “there are some really deep and emotional things that go on. [Emma Stone’s] Cruella faces what sends him to the dark, evil side.

Similar to previous hybrid versions of Disney’s ‘Mulan’ and ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’, ‘Cruella’ will air on Disney + under the Premier Access banner, meaning subscribers will have to pay an additional $ 29.99 to watch the film. .
