Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards has a delicious habit of saying what he thinks.
He was especially willing to ring after Minnesota escaped with a 102-101 win over the Knicks on Wednesday.
In final possession, RJ Barrett missed a difficult jumper while Jaden McDaniels refused New York star Julius Randle to retrieve the ball.

Edwards:
We told Jaden to try not to let Randle catch the ball. Make someone else beat us. Fortunately, RJ Barrett caught it. And if he had made a shot, we would have lived with it. I mean, because that’s who we want to take the picture from. We didn’t want anyone to take it.
Cold.
But that’s not a bad game plan, either.
While far from a perfect representation of each player’s ability in this situation, here are the actual field goal percentages entering Wednesday from the five Knicks on the ground for the final shot:
Randle is New York’s best player and has won several times this season. The Timberwolves have done well to keep the ball out of their hands.
Barrett has improved considerably as a shooter of all skill levels. But it remains somewhat ineffective. At just 20 years old with a strong work ethic, he should continue to grow. Edwards’ quote will probably lead him.
Yet that night Barrett took that shot was a process win – then an actual win – for Minnesota.
I’m not sure Edwards wanted his remarks to sound as harsh as them. But I feel like Edwards likes to walk that line and then watch the havoc he creates.
