I think the Eagles would like to recoup some sort of draft pick in exchange for trading Dillard, if they could. However, it will cost more to trade it in than just keep it, so they should get something worthwhile in return. Fourth-round pick in 2022? I think it would be the best they could hope for. Personally, I wouldn’t give up anything of value for Dillard if I was another team, even if I needed an LT. It’s assumed here that he’s back on the roster in 2021, as a backup LT. Keep in mind that Mailata has a history of back injuries so they may need Dillard at some point this season, even if Mailata wins the starting position. Maybe if Dillard is showing positive signs if he has to play, he can improve his value and they can treat him in 2022 if it still makes sense to do so? But at the moment, I can’t imagine Howie getting a bunch of calls on him.

As for the consensus among scouts and league members, I guess Jalen Hurts would be a second or third tier flagger if he was in the 2021 draft. I would say first tier would be Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Justin Fields and Trey Lance. Maybe Mac Jones should be in the first level, but I’m going to put him in the second level for him alone. My opinion is that people would see Hurts pretty much like Kyle Trask (not in playstyle, but in terms of projection) in a separate third group. How would I classify them myself? Lawrence would be my QB1 and I would have Fields comfortable in second. For me, they are part of the first level. I would run Hurts on the second level with Wilson and Lance. Call it confirmation bias if you want the biggest Hurts guy on this site, but he’s excelled in two of the best programs in the country this century and has better mobility than Wilson and Lance (although that says more about Hurts than the other (guys, who are also great athletes).

I mentioned DeVonta Smith a few times recently. It is fair to wonder if there are any issues with him. We have no official measurements for Smith. He is reportedly 6-0 and says he weighs 170 pounds. Someone I trust wrote a while ago that Smith has been playing in the 165 lineup this year. It’s easy for an Eagles fan to have scary flashbacks to Todd Pinkston, who was 6-2, 170. I can’t stress this enough, but Smith and Pinkston are not alike. Nothing. Smith played on the ST. I don’t speak as a turner (although he did). Smith is a good tackle. He will mix it with DB. Yes, he has a slight build, but he is not a finesse player. He is tough mentally and physically. He is ultra-competitive. I love guys who have this mindset. Anquan Boldin was slow (ran 4.7 on the combine), but I liked his competitive nature so much that I had him classified as a 1st round prospect. Smith doesn’t have the perfect height, but he certainly seems to have the perfect heart. And you can watch the video of the game to see how he dominated the best conference in all of football. At choice 12, it is worth taking a chance. There is certainly a risk. At the same time, watch JJ Arcega-Whiteside. He’s got a lot of height and hasn’t squatted in the NFL. Size matters, but that’s only part of the big picture.
