Famitsu has released its estimated physical gaming software and hardware sales data for Japan for the week of March 22, 2021 to March 28, 2021.
Monster Hunter Rise for Switch was the new best-selling version of the week, opening to 1,302,132 units sold. In comparison, Monster Hunter: World retailed 1,350,412 copies for PlayStation 4 in its first three days of release in Japan.
On the hardware side, the Switch family sold a massive 267,497 units thanks to the release of Monster Hunter Rise, the PlayStation 5 family sold 62,295 units, the PlayStation 4 family sold 2,189 units, and the Xbox Series family sold 1,279 units. New generation consoles continue to face inventory issues.
