The shooting that claimed the lives of four people – including a child – in Orange, Calif., Was the worst in the city of about 140,000 people since 1997, when a man killed the same number of people, according to a report.
Arturo Reyes Torres, 41, who was fired as an equipment operator for the State Department of Transportation, carried an assault rifle, shotgun and handgun when he returned to his workplace on Dec. 18 of the same year, the Orange County Register reported at the time.

Determined to avenge himself for being fired six weeks earlier, Torres shot dead four and injured several others, including a police officer.
Torres was then fatally shot in a savage shootout with police, the outlet said.

The shooter, who had worked for Caltrans for around 15 years, was fired after being filmed illegally selling scrap aluminum in the facility’s yard, the registry reported.
