Britney Spears’ father has asked the pop star’s estate to cover the high costs of his legal fees.

In a statement recently filed by attorneys for Jamie Spears, the 39-year-old “Toxic” singer’s father is asking his estate to cover the nearly $ 2 million in costs, according to Entertainment Tonight.

In addition, Jamie is also asking to be compensated for the time he spent as curator of his daughter between November 1, 2019 and February 28, 2021, Fox News has confirmed. The court document notes that payments for his time as curator until October 31, 2019 have already been approved.

“I am authorized and authorized to receive compensation through my personal services company Spears Management, Inc., for services rendered as registrar of the estate of Britney Jean Spears, in the amount of $ 16,000 per month plus $ 2,000 per month for the cost of a secure office space dedicated to Ms. Spears’ activities, ”says Jamie in the file.

The court document comes in the wake of Britney’s lawyer formally requesting that Jodi Montgomery become her permanent curator. Britney, via her attorney, also called on Jamie to quit his post altogether and cited a job well done on behalf of Montgomery. Montgomery was Spears’ interim curator while Jamie temporarily stepped down in 2019 for “health reasons.”

Currently, Jamie and Bessemer Trust oversee Spears’ estate, which includes all of his financial decisions, and Jamie will have the opportunity to oppose any petition to remove him from his position as co-curator altogether.
