Freshly nominated for an Oscar for his critically acclaimed role in A24’s family drama “Minari,” Steven Yeun is currently staring in Jordan Peele’s upcoming film.

While the premise – even the genre – is being kept a secret, the cast is also expected to include Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya. Peele is writing and directing the film, which is set to debut on July 22, 2022.

Peele is also producing the film alongside Ian Cooper of Monkeypaw Productions. The project is part of the company’s five-year production agreement with Universal. The film will mark Peele’s third collaboration with Universal. The studio backed his directorial debut, “Get Out,” which went on to become a commercial hit and landed four Oscar nominations (including one win, for the original screenplay). Peele followed up with “Us”, a terrifying thriller starring Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke. Collectively, his films have grossed over $ 500 million at the global box office.

Senior Vice President of Production Sara Scott and Creative Director Tony Ducret will oversee the project on behalf of Universal.

Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions recently supported Amazon’s HBO series “Lovecraft Country” and “Hunters” with Al Pacino. Then the company releases a remake of “Candyman” with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Nia DaCosta directs this film from a screenplay she co-wrote with Peele.

Yeun, whose credits include “The Walking Dead,” “Burning,” and “Okja,” will next be seen in the Netflix comedy “Beef.” He will star in the TV show alongside Ali Wong.

Yeun is represented by CAA, Principal Entertainment LA, The Gotham Group and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller & Gellman.

Deadline Hollywood first broke the news of Yeun’s casting.
